Home Ownership Crisis

Ms Qureshi remains Ministers of their promise to help hardworking young people “enjoy the security of being able to own their own home.”

In questions to the Department of Communities and Local Government this afternoon, I reminded Ministers that in December of last year, the Prime Minister had said that he wanted to help hardworking young people to “enjoy the security of being able to own their own home.” But under this Government there are a record number of young people living at home with their parents into their twenties and thirties and the younger generation is more priced out than ever. I asked the Secretary of State to finally admit that his Government had ‘failed’ to help the next generation realise their dream of home ownership.
