Job

Freelance workers who are on Pay As You Earn (PAYE) have so far been left stranded by the Government.

Because of their PAYE status, they cannot apply for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) and many of their employers are refusing to furlough them via the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS).  This is despite PAYE freelancers paying just as much tax as workers with different employment statuses.

This is why I have written to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, and raised the plight of PAYE freelancers with him.  You can see a copy of this letter below.

I can assure you that the Opposition will continue to raise this issue with the Government, and push for no workers to be left behind during the coronavirus crisis.
