Congratulations to Councillor Linda Thomas on becoming the new Mayor of Bolton.

It is a great honour and privilege to represent the people of Bolton in any form of public office, but being the Mayor provides unique opportunities and challenges.  I know that Linda will carry out her duties as Bolton’s First Citizen to the best of her abilities.

These are difficult times for Mayors to connect with, help, and promote their local communities, so I wish Linda and Len, her consort, good luck in their efforts to unite the Bolton family.

I also want to thank the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Hilary Fairclough, for her efforts over the last year.  I especially want to thank her for raising over £53,000 for her chosen charities during her year in office, which is a wonderful achievement.  Well done!
