23 May 2020 is the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula.

This is a chronic and extremely debilitating, yet preventable condition suffered by hundreds of thousands of women across the world, but it particularly affects those living in developing countries where access to healthcare is already extremely difficult, and even more so now with the constraints of COVID-19.

I have written to The Rt. Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan M.P. – Secretary of State for International Development –  to ask her what steps her department is taking to support universal health coverage and, in particular, the additional support countries in the Global South are receiving to provide and extend the reach of maternal health coverage.
