I would like to offer my heartfelt and sincere congratulations to the five Bolton groups which have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.  The award was set up to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and is awarded on 2nd June every year to mark her coronation.

In my constituency, Kearsley Youth Brass Band  have been awarded for their excellent work in giving musical opportunities to all young people, regardless of background.  The award comes as Kearsley Youth Brass Band are currently fundraising to tour Oslo.  I would strongly recommend getting in touch and asking how you can help them expand their fantastic efforts.

Additionally, Bolton Solidarity Community Association is a fantastic community group representing Somalians in Bolton.  Their organisers are invaluable in building cultural bridges and helping us communicate effectively.
