Yasmin Qureshi Labour Member of Parliament for Bolton South East
As you may have seen, in light of Covid-19 and the need for older people to self isolate, the BBC and the Government have agreed to delay introducing license fee charges for over 75s until August.
I am glad that this decision has been made so that older people can still receive vital information, entertainment and company at this difficult time.
The full details of this decision can be found here.
Campaigners have been warning the Government about the affect that scrapping free TV licences for over 75s would have on their well-being and sense of isolation for some time now. I hope that, come August, the Government will reflect on this and commit to maintaining free TV licences for over 75s.
