This week marks a historic moment for renters across Bolton South and Walkden. Labour’s Renters’ Rights Act has officially become law, delivering long-overdue protections and dignity to over 23,000 people in our community.

For too long, renters have faced insecurity, unfair rent hikes and poor living conditions. This legislation changes that. It abolishes Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, introduces stronger safeguards against unreasonable rent increases, and gives tenants new rights – including the ability to request pets and demand decent living standards.

This is more than policy. It’s a generational shift in housing rights. A secure home is the foundation for opportunity, safety and dignity. I’m proud to stand with Labour in delivering this transformative change and will continue fighting to ensure every resident in Bolton South and Walkden has access to safe, stable and affordable housing.
