In questions to the Department of Communities and Local Government this afternoon, I reminded Ministers that, in December of last year, the Prime Minister had said that he wanted to help hard-working young people to “enjoy the security of being able to own their own home.”  But under this Government there is a record number of young people living at home with their parents into their twenties and thirties, and the younger generation is more priced-out than ever.  I asked the Secretary of State to admit, finally, that his Government had failed to help the next generation realise its dream of home ownership.
