Yasmin Qureshi, MP for Bolton South East, commenting on Greater Manchester Health Devolution, said:

“I have deep concerns around devolution. Although it’s only right that we take power back from Whitehall and empower local people, it must be a fair deal and not one that is ideologically driven.

“In spite of the fact that Greater Manchester now has control of how health and social care money is spent across Greater Manchester, I will continue to lobby the Government hard to stick to its word and not to shift any more of the growing social care bill burden onto the shoulders of local taxpayers.

“Bolton must get its fair share and not deliberately staved off funding when unexpected crisis emerges and shift blame onto local authorities, but the Government is yet to give us this reassurance and this is where my core concern comes from.”
