I am calling on the Government to maintain a ban on Neonicotinoids, post-Brexit, to protect this country’s bees from killer chemicals.

Currently, there is an EU-wide ban on these pesticides, and I believe that this ban should remain in place when we leave the EU.

Bees pollinate a large number of crops.  Without bees, we would have to rely on alternative, more expensive forms of pollination, which would result in an increase in the price of food and other essential items, and even increased scarcity of certain products.

Our exit from the EU does not change the scientific evidence on this issue, our position on these pesticides should not therefore change.

As we leave the EU, the Government will come under pressure to lift the current ban.  I will oppose this at every turn.
