In June 2018, OFCOM appealed for community radio stations to apply for coverage extensions in their local areas. I was delighted to offer my letter of support for Bolton FM so that its vital message can be heard across the entirety of Bolton.
Bolton FM has won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, and is used by Bolton at Home, Bolton Council and Bolton’s Clinical Commissioning Group to reach Bolton’s residents. Therefore, I believe it to be of the utmost importance that these updates can be heard further than the current radius of 5km from the station.
This is an organisation that knits our diverse community together and helps us to engage with one another in the spirit of cooperation and communication. Critically, it also allows residents to connect with local services and avoid being cut out of the conversation.
As such, I am proud to put my name in support of Bolton FM and sincerely hope that it receives the coverage extension that requires, because it performs a fundamentally positive service to Bolton.
