Earlier this week, I spoke to the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, about the tighter restrictions imposed on Bolton as a result of the increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases.

I told him that constituents had raised concerns about the lack of local Coronavirus testing facilities and how some people had been offered appointments almost 100 miles away – which would be impossible for anyone who didn’t have a car.

I’m pleased that he has listened to my plea for more local testing facilities and that a new ‘walk through’ NHS Testing Site will open today at the car park of the New Bury Community Learning Centre in Farnworth.

Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus – a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – should book a test immediately at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
