In Westminster, I raised my deep concerns about how this government is failing to properly assess local housing need—and how that failure is affecting people in Bolton South and Walkden.

Too many families in our community are stuck on long waiting lists or forced into private rentals they simply can’t afford. The current system doesn’t reflect the reality on the ground—it ignores affordability, local wages, and the real-life pressures faced by working people.

I made it clear: this isn’t good enough. We need a new approach that puts people first—not developers. That means building genuinely affordable homes, strengthening council powers, and basing decisions on real, local data.

Watch my speech below and see why I’m fighting for a housing system that works for everyone in our community.
