Yasmin Qureshi MP has praised a new initiative to make health checks more accessible when she met with a community group.
Bolton South and Walkden MP Yasmin Qureshi visited the Khidma Ladies Community Group, who hold the monthly checks.
There, at the Willows Centre in Deane, residents could take part in blood pressure and other health screenings, supported by dedicated nurses who took the time to speak to everyone individually.
Speaking after her visit, Ms Qureshi said: “It was inspiring to see the Khidma Community Group in action and to meet the dedicated nurses and volunteers delivering such vital health checks.
“Early intervention and awareness can save lives, and it was clear from the smiles and conversations on the day just how valued these services are.
“I want to thank everyone involved for their tireless efforts in making healthcare more accessible to our community.”
A spokesperson for Bolton GP Federation added: “Since starting the Do It For You! campaign, the Khidma Ladies Group, along with other groups such as Sunnyside, Rumworth Community Alliance, and Elite Tuition Group, have been incredibly welcoming and supportive, helping us reach more than 300 people for health checks and lifestyle advice since the project started in July.”
Organisers described the day as being filled with “smiles, conversations, and care,” highlighting the strength and spirit within Bolton’s communities.
