Access to work and benefit support should never depend on where you live and it’s important to make sure that support is easy to access. For many people, small obstacles can prevent progress, such as travel costs, limited internet access, or uncertainty about where to begin. This mobile service reduces barriers by allowing people to speak to an adviser, ask questions, and receive guidance without needing to travel long distances to a job centre. It also creates a more welcoming and informal space to ask questions, which can make a real difference for those who may feel hesitant about walking into a traditional job centre setting.
In partnership with local councils and organisations, the Jobcentre van offers a wide range of support including:
- finding work opportunities nearby
- improving a CV so it reflects skills and experience clearly
- preparing for interviews with confidence
- applying for jobs online, including using digital tools
- understanding Universal Credit and other benefits
The aim is simple, to provide clear advice, remove confusion, and help people move forward.
The van visits various locations across the area. For details of where and when it will be available, please see the Bolton timetable here. Unfortunately, the van doesn’t currently visit Salford, but residents from Salford are welcome to visit the van at any of its Bolton sites.
